I just want to place a notice. Please visit http://de1.php.net/manual/de/function.mysql-query.php
The "suggested alternatives" are still not shown in all translated versions of the docs. I
am sure that there are people who look in the docs but have never seen the suggestions before (like
me)... I was forced to use PDO because of several frameworks and learned the advantages ;-)
Best regards
Christian

I do not follow the logic. It is too heavy to use the right
deprecation flag for the connect function only, but it is perfectly
fine to kill one of the most widely used extension in php history in a
minor version? I'd rather go with the flag and kill it in 6.
