My main problem with annotations, in their current form, is that it adds complexity to PHP Which the language does not need. In the 15 years I have been using PHP I never had the need to use annotations. And the implementations I've seen so far only add code which is difficult to debug. Annotations belong in a compiled language and not in PHP. Just my 2 cents.
