I think that's laying it on a bit thick. It's no worse than Python's "from
__future__ import", or JS's 'use strict;' (quotes included).
I wish unknown declare directives were ignored, though, because it would make for a great
forward-compatibility mechanism. Still, that, like the syntax format, is a decision made many years
ago.
