Re: rsync server

I've read several articles and threads in ML about rsync, and what comes out is that rsync saves bandwidth but consumes a lot of CPU and disk access on the server side. It would be interesting to look at the load average on rsync.php.net. Providing more rsync server would share the CPU load for the mirroring process. We could also see if we can use rsync in a more optimal way, I read somewhere that you can say to rsync to only look at timestamps and filesizes. And at last we could look to some alternate software like rdist for example.
