I think that the RIPE whois simply assigns NL
to the ip blocks over which it has no authority,
try the following blocks from our network in
Mexico:
whois -h whois.ripe.net 148.245.15.0
whois -h whois.ripe.net 200.36.127.0
or this IP from www.mit.edu:
whois -h whois.ripe.net 18.181.0.31
Perhaps some of the geoip entries were looked up
in the wrong whois. I think the mirror system
should rely on standard DNS and (only if GeoIP is
installed in the mirror), look up unresolved IP
addresses and names ending in .com .net,.org and
such (or to be more precise, hostnames that have
a TLD bigger than two letters or ending in .tv )
