It was thought appropriate to comment on the events this time as some of the PHP community has been
directly effected by the events, and also to show the solidarity of the PHP community around the
world which is made up of people of all religions who cooperate regardless of race, colour and
background for the greater good of PHP itself.
From the others I have spoken to we were all shocked by this terrible event and thus the message was
added to the front page.
I cannot comment on previous tragedy's and if we should or should not have put up a page but I
feel if we were to do this every time an event occurred which resulted in the loss of human life it
would quickly detract from the message itself.
Yours,
- James

My deepest thoughts goes to the families left behind, because of the terrible circumstances in
the United States !!
I am just currious about the black screen before entering php.net as I haven't seen or
noticed it before and that I find a little odd ?
I just wondered where the BLACK MESSAGE screen before entering www.php.net were when 7000 people
died in the eathquake in Turkey og when 1.5 million people died in Rwanda ?
What are the PHP Community general policies about this issue ? How do you decide to have the
black screen or not ?
