I have come across a common misconception that 'r' is what is to be used in RSS (2.0)
feeds. This is incorrect as RSS feeds require RFC822, while 'r' displays in RFC2822. I
have even seen a bug report on this site at http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=13885 saying it
displays the timezone offset (e.g. -0500) instead of the timezone (e.g. EST). If you wish to display
the RFC822 date, use 'D, d M Y H:i:s T'. I hope this helps you out!
