----
Using slightly modified test code PHP 5.0.3 on P IV 3.00GHz:
core function strtolower() X 100000 took 0.015111923217773
core function strtr() X 100000 took 0.21379899978638
strtr() function is ( 14X ) SLOWER than the strtolower() function!
