I haven't looked at HTML_Select but unless it will support
related selects XML seems like overkill for handling lists
of data. Plus, data like this is commonly available in CSV
or TSV format already and would have to be massaged into XML
before it could be used. With country/state/province data I
use DB and my QuerySim driver
(http://bombusbee.com/downloads.main.htm). In fact the
technique is briefly described in my article here
(http://www.databasejournal.com/features/php/article.php/108
98_1470251_5). The example shows the data inline with the
code but QuerySim can also read external files. With the
data stored in comma (or whatever) delimited files it is
totally separate from your code.
