Well not really ...
LDAP is a hierarchal database and therefore they do follow a very
different philosophy and you do query them differently. That is why the
PEAR DB Ldap driver is not complete.
XML databases as far as I know are probably a little more similar to
LDAP in that you also have trees, but they also have their own twist
which make them useful in very different situations than LDAP.
But depending on the needs it might still make sense to have drivers for
XML DB's and LDAP especially if you want to leverage your existing
code/know how more easily.
