XML database are closer to LDAP than to RDBMS. But learning from the Java ppl it is obvious that something like an abstraction layer for XML databases a la "XML:DB API" is the better approach than integrating everything in one API. You have X-Hive, eXists, Tamino, Xindice, Oracle/XML and a bunch of others already out or to come in the very future. They have already differences though being XDBs. So putting these group of things into MDB is blowing it up. jm2c -moh
