As I´ve stated earlier, I´ve got no experience at all with XML databases which is why I put an "if" condition before my proposal: IF it makes sense and IF the approaches are similar enough, it would surely be nice to add this stuff to DB/MDB. From my POV, you´ve made it quite clear that this is not feasible, so please go ahead with your XDB or XMLDB category (I still like XMLDB better, but if XDB already is a common abbreviation amongst XML database users, it´s probably better to use that).
