Greeting, I was wondering if some one could direct me to the proper documents or persons to speak in order to be able to create a pear repository, and the requirements for this. The pear website is available via CVS (cvs.php.net /pearweb) and the instructions for setting up the site are in there as well. - The site works on a mysql database, and the pear installer uses xmlrpc to query the site/database for information on releases, and available packages.
The site also handles the upload, accounts etc. - It would be good to get another set of eyes looking over the site, If you have a look at it, and need to make big changes (to make it look more postnukey) - let the pear group know, we may be able to make the code more generic/modular, and share the same codebase.
A brief introduction, at the recent PHP-CON in San Francisco I had the chance to meet and talk with Rasmus, in his opening talk he sais that PEAR methods of installation and automatic dependencies resolution for well at present it does pre download dependancy checking - I think the download of a the
full dependancy tree (ala apt-get update) may be in the works eventually.
the PEAR packages might be just what the doctor ordered for our own project [The Postnuke CMS], we further discuss this possibility and Rasmus recommended me to contact the list for guidance. So here I am some time has past since then and now we are about to modularize and prepare for a PEAR like distribution based on components for Postnuke, and hope we can find some help in creating a beta repository in order to start a test period with package delivery using this method including the dependencies feature. I have some questions like requirements etc, but also, does the PEAR repository provides stats? Yes - if you've set the pear.php.net?devme cookie, then go to a package and select stats (or it should appear on the
left menu at somepoint )
Like how many components are requested and served? Or any other kind of stats? have a play with this data - I guess since most of it is logged anyway, it's up to you to add any additional graphs if you want them.
Regards Alan
Any help would be greatly appreciated, looking forward to your reply. Thanks in advanced Cheers Sam Postuke CMS Postnuke Development Team http://www.postnuke.com/
