After talking to the current maintainer of Net_IRC ( Tomas V.V.Cox
<cox@idecnet.com> ) who hasn't updated it since 5/2002 he said I could take
over Net_IRC.
A note to PEAR Admins: Can you please add me on the Net_IRC page on the PEAR
website so I can make releases there. (pear username: chip)
I having been hacking into Net_IRC for a couple days now.
New Features:
- Much less CPU intensive by making use of the new stream_select
function to wait for incoming data.
(therefore Net_IRC requires PHP 4.3.0 or newer)
- Net_IRC is now Completely Multi-server.
(as such, all previous examples are broken)
- Can connect / disconnect, etc while still running
(ie add servers/change servers without restarting)
- New Event Callback System. [Not Commplete]
( Allows multiple callbacks per event, added at anytime,
and the ability to "layer" callbacks on one another)
- New Example (ChiBot)
(I used for testing multi-server code. Easily did 300+
concurant connections) ( Please look at this for how Net_IRC
will work in the future)
TODO:
- Complete new and more Examples
- Complete Event Callback System
- Create New Documentation
- Add nice features like isOp() isOnChannel() .. etc
- Ensure cross system compat.(Currently only tested on
FreeBSD-stable - I Would not be surprised if stream_select
breaks on Windows.)
