I followed the rest of the thread.. - sounds great..
From the previous track record of writing it so far...
cvs traffic, releases should be 'automateable...'... * and possibly add Names from everyone who has posted that week... (as a contribution..?)
the pear-dev activity is a bit more difficult to automate, - you could make a list of the thread subjects, then write quick comments under the relivant ones... (and trash the others).. .. or just make a list and connect it with the news.php.net... then optionally write a focus on something...
Again the biggest problem is really ownership.. - someone with enough time has to take ownership, and can say 'I want to do it my way...' :)

Alan

We had a short discussion about this on irc, but thought i'd drop a line on pear-dev too. Since weekly news is no more like bi-monthly-news because Alan has been extremely busy I though about solution. Weekly news is basically 3 different parts. 1) pear-dev traffic 2) cvs activity 3) releases IMO the workload could be divided so different people take care about different parts. If no-one objects I will volunteer for takin care about atleast 2 and 3 starting tomorrow. Maybe parts of 1 but can't make any promises. It would be great if someone else (perhaps Alan will have some time again?) will volunteer too. I feel that weekly news is a great resource. It's a nice roundup about what has happened. Now when PEAR is out of beta it's even more valuable now.
