True, I forgot about this problem.
It seems it is not possible yet to dynamically load external extensions
(like PDFLib for instance), these extensions have to be compiled with PHP.
This probably means that usage of PECL extensions will be limited on OSX at
the moment. I guess there is a workaround but I haven't heard of any :(
