Hmm, I still fail to see why it's bad to rebuild the release feed after
every new release. IMO that's the best solution.

Proper communication is on the most essential things in open-source
projects. Without communication between the participants the project
will suffer because of double work, inconsistencies, misunderstandings
and so on. But that's a pretty long story ;-).
