Not sure if it's still the case or not, just bringing up the point. I've fought with it in the past. -----Original Message----- From: Christian Stocker [mailto:chregu@bitflux.ch] Sent: Sunday, February 16, 2003 3:36 AM To: Tim Thorpe Cc: pear-dev@lists.php.net Subject: Re: [PEAR-DEV] Encryption issues On Sun, 16 Feb 2003, Tim Thorpe wrote: > Something that we all need to be aware of as we implement encryption > algorithms is the rather unfriendly policies of the US regarding > strong crypto exports. Didn't they change anything that law recently (2 years ago) and it's only forbidden to export them to "rogue" countries (cuba, syria, iraq, germany/france *g* etc..). But IANAL and absolutely not sure. Anyway, the debian way to do this would be preferable anyway. Host the problematic packages on servers in countries, which have a known record of being more open to crypto laws (netherlands in the debian world, but that can't be the only one, can it ?) chregu > > ------------------------------------------------------------ > I'm not a FreeBSD snob, my OS is just better than yours. ;^) > ------------------------------------------------------------ > > > > -- nam...christian stocker adr...pflanzschulstr. 31, ch-8004 zurich pho...+41 43 317 9984 www...http://blog.bitflux.ch mob...+41 76 561 8860 ema...chregu@phant.ch wor...+41 1 240 5670 gpg...0x5CE1DECB -- PEAR Development Mailing List (http://pear.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php
