I'd be concerned about a prevalence of me-too-ism. I.e. how can I say no to Stig even if his code sucks (I like Stigs code, but he's a prominent figure easy to pick on).
I personally dig a community rating system. If 500 people think that package foo is the greatest thing since sliced cheese, then I don't really care that it is a PFC, it probably merits consideration.
Just my $0.02.

Hi After recent flame-wars and some really disappointed people, there was a short discussion on #pear about the future of PEAR. It was decided, that PEAR should take up the idea of the PEAR Foundation Classes (aka PFC) again. I'm not sure, what the initial idea of PFC was, but here's a proposal, what it could be.
