Ideally, I would be dealing with Date objects, not caring about the interal representation, but only caring about creating a Date from some format and displaying a Date in some format, and being able to add 40 days or do stuff like Nth weekday of month by manipulating and passing in only the Date objects, comparing Date objects easily, etc.
You pretty much sum up how the Date-class works. ;) I'm not so sure however how I should implement timezones. Either you set the time-differance explicitly, such as +01 (resolution? should it be +01:00...) or you set it by using the name, such as GMT. And I'm not quite sure how daylight savings time works, anyone who can inform me? /erik hjortsberg
