Metabase is very good and well done, but it would be interesting to see if there is some common standard out there that can be used. A common language independant db schema solution would be very cool.
I think its at least worth investigation, specially if Lukas would be open looking at supporting the format with MDB.

What would be thevocabulary isof using XSLT for the same purpose? It is not only about using XSLT instead of PHP/Expat, but using XSD instead of Metabase/MDB XML vocabulary. As far as I see, the MDB schemarather focused on databases and does not allow for flexible data type definitions like XSD (e.g. maxLength and minLength of strings). The proof-of-concept I am working on is to define arbitrary data structures with XSD, to not only derive e.g. table definitions or LDAP schemafiles, but also HTML forms and application logic from it (e.g. evaluating theminimumand maximum lengt of a form post).Ah now I get it. XSD is another format for specifying storage schemas? So is XSD a superset of the Metabase/MDB xml format or is it simply overlapping? I am not familiar with this format. I will take a look. So basically right now it does something similar and in that way it is relevant to MDB/Metabase. Ok now I (think) I get it. Regards, Lukas
