I'm not a user of IT at all, but looking at the history of discussion about
this topic, it seems to me that even if this "cache" feature would be
accepted in current IT, the next feature suggested (maybe in a few months or
so) would again raise a hot discussion here.
So therefore I would prefer to see a new package in this case which can then
be extended in the future "on its own".
Just my opinion of course...
