I think I have a better idea... can HTML_QuickForm use the HTML_Select package for its select stuff?
It seems the only different between the code is something to do with args, HTML_QuickForm could write a simple wrapper to use HTML_Select's current format, and I believe HTML_Select 2.0 will be released to break BC and conform to the HTML_QuickForm's way, thus negating the need for a wrapper...
I'm all for modularity, and thing that wherever something is useful on its own, it should be on its own, but I also dislike repetitiveness. Using an existing package will make things much nicer all round. (a la PEAR::Message and Crypt_HMAC, Crypt_HMAC should be used in PEAR::Message instead of its current HMAC fallback). At the end of day everyone is happy, those who just want selects only need HTML_Select, and lets not forget those who use HTML_QuickForm, those who need Select will use HTML_Select from HTML_QuickForm and those who don't won't have the HTML_Select code included making their apps more slimline :)
