Hi Martin > This sounds like heavy redundancy for me. Can you please explain how > your package differs from HTML_OOH_Forms? > Ok i 'll try to explain the differences between my package and HTML_OOH_Form. First i hope Ulf Wendel will excuse me because, i've not seen any docs that explain goals of his package, so i can't really give all differs. I've seen his site http://www.ulf-wendel.de but i don't speak/read german. I've tried to find any doc even on PEAR site without a success. I know that OOH is on CVS but there are not yet a really stable version released. If i 've understood HTML_OOH_Form functionnalities, i can tell that my package : - create configuration file (with HTML_Config ) that will handle all parameters used by a final application (with different render : php array, XML, INI ) - create or update a DB schema (with MDB Manager) easely, and even initialize DB data - create if you want a user with restricted rights to run you application scripts; To avoid usage of root ' user which handle full right on a database. example: i need only a user with select grant on the DB i'll create because it"s only a reading application. (security reasons) - No limit on my Object Oriented Form except your imagination, because you can use the standalone mode. (there is also a pre-set screens -> script mode) - Multi language interface (with getText or a simple dictionnary message file if getText un-supported) - Give a new look and feel easely with usage of Template engine ( HTML_Template_Sigma ) - add help screen (independant HTML file) on each step of the SetupWizard if necessary. - integration without redefine HTML elements of one of the most active package in PEAR framework : HTML_QuickForm if you know QF, you'll easely create a new screen object on my package - logging all operations (with LOG package) - provides password (Apache style .htpasswd ) protection (with File_password package ) - and even more i've certainly forgotten ... ;o) You've probably in past tried without success to install a PHP application, because you've to manage/change config options: add your DB parameters (host / username / pass) or something else. If Wizards exists on PHP world, it's always for a specific usage : - install of SPIP (CMS french) is very good but only for SPIP install - same with install of phpbugTracker: good but you have to create a database before launching install procedure - and examples there are a lot like it ... I want to make an easy and universal setup/install procedure without doing lot of manual changes. Hope i've explained all you wanted. Best regards Laurent
