I started with that today by introducing a new field "package_type" in
the package database. It's alreay integrated at all necessary places on
pear.php.net and my (long term) plan is to set up pecl.php.net based on
this:
It will work on the same code- and database than pear.php.net, but will
have a different color scheme and will only list the packages that are
part of PECL.
