Since it's marked stable that's not compliant with the PEAR- rules and *this* is the main part of the problem arising. Anyway: There seems to be no other way than to upgrade all packages having deps on Log (could somebody from the team look this up in the DB?) ... and to tell people again that for API-changes a new major version is needed.
