Sorry Paul, can't help you if there is a switch ... but ...
hmm, for bzip-support okay. having a .tar.bz2 is odd in my eyes :-)
But a tgz is often an essential part of Linux / unix. Can't you
assume that everybody has a zlib somewhere around?
