hmm, for bzip-support okay. having a .tar.bz2 is odd in my eyes :-)Mine too.
But a tgz is often an essential part of Linux / unix. Can't you assume that everybody has a zlib somewhere around?I have been assuming exactly that; I mean, come on, it's *zlib*. :-) But apparently not everybody has it compiled into PHP, and those few people have been asking me about it. SO I decided to move the question up the chain. (At least, I figure it's an issue with zlib not being compiled into their installation of PHP -- I can't imagine it's because zlib exists nowhere on their system.) -- pmj
