Here's the patch applied against the latest version from the CVS, V1.4.
This patch includes:
* Connection options are settable via a baseDSN.
* Checking if server is reachable is now optional.
* Server-timeouts can be set via a ['timeout'] in the $options.
* Code made more readable in 2 places.
* Added documentation for new baseDSN feature.
I left the default for checkServer to on(true), since this was the old
behaviour.
