Can you please tell me why would you use ModelX (or whatever the name is) instead of Smarty ? From what I read on your previous email, they both seem to have the same set of features. Joao
Dear Joao, I wish to create an open-source product similar to phpLens and OracleWebPortal. What I like in PHPLens is that it can generate source-code using abstract builders (with little or no template) and is based upon Smarty. OracleWebPortal has a nice interface to split a page into several panes, define elements inside panes, all content being stored in a database. I bought a PhpLens license and have used OracleWebPortal (I localized it into French but had no access to source-code, I was just the translator). My feeling is that we need to bring these features to PEAR:
end-user interface to quickly design pages, PHP source-code generation (therefore could be cached by Zend) = object oriented builders,
generated code stored in database, advanced XML templates incorporation (Smarty, whatever, we need the best).
I am just learning and will be free during 2 months (dec, jan) to concentrate on the project. Any feedback/help welcome. Anyone working on a similar project? Best regards, Jean-Michel POURE, Paris, France
