Hello,With CPAN, they manage to accomplish both. I think we can too.I'd personally rather have a PEAR with more choice. Not a must, basics, stables classes are.

don't get me wrong, but I think there are some road blocks here that might be inhibiting potential contributions. The only problems I see is the road map. I read too much things about what's about SmartPhorumBiliX lib in PEAR ? And always the same persons answer like ¨If you want to create an application, that's fine, but I don't think it needs to be in PEAR." " Same goes for the Forum stuff by the way..." (just today) imho all of them are in the right way. For sure, forums, frameworks, etc. should not be part of a repository of classes. Maybe the road map needs to be clearer on this, I get the impression people are confused about this.
Talking about "jbuilder-visualjava-swing-like" IDE for php, sure, but damned ;) where is the role of PEAR here ? I really mis-understand something. I agree, IDEs and builders are probably above frameworks even, so PEAR is not the place for that.
To be sure, just one question. What is exactly the goals of PEAR ?
