Currently I have a working C-implementation of ITX which is part of modlogan
(http://jan.kneschke.de/projects/modlogan/) which is currently on its way to
become a php/pear-ext. I just have to pearize it.
I've never checked it's performance, but it should at least blast ITX out of
the way.
If someone wants to see the current code, download modlogan 0.7.7 and take a
look at ./src/output/template/template.c
Please take this option in account if you design a generic template
interface.
