So why is DocBook good? DocBook was developed by O'Reilly - a publishing company, not a software company. They have to keep up the wishes of authors, lectures and readers in minds.
"Why DocBook is good" is not the question at this point. The question really is, "What are our requirements for documentation creation, editing, and delivery?" Yes, we've been using DocBook, and it may or may not be the best tool. Let's find out. What do we need from our documentation system? The answer is *not* "a Wiki", or "reST", or "DocBook." The answer is a list of non-technology-specific requirements.
