Greetings, Current download stats for PEAR template engines: HTML_Template_IT: 59,577 HTML_Template_Xipe: 21,420 HTML_Template_Sigma: 19,318 HTML_Template_PHPLIB: 17,014 HTML_Template_Flexy: 7,565 I don't see any engine dying from lack of attention, I don't see hordes of mythical "confused users" complaining about the number of template engines in PEAR. But I do see that our role model template engine is the one least downloaded by real PEAR users.
That may be due to the fact it hasnt become stable yet. Also, as I pointed out before I dont think that flexy is the answer to all questions since IT-style template engines are much more secure if you have outsiders edit the templates. As such I see room for two "base" template systems which can be extended upon to fit more specific needs.
On an "official PEAR template engine". Last time I checked (around PHP version 4.3.6), a specific template engine (HTML_Template_IT) was bundled with PHP's installation. Are there any plans to unbundle it?
Its being bundled because of the webinstaller regards, Lukas Smith smith@backendmedia.com _______________________________ BackendMedia www.backendmedia.com berlin@backendmedia.com Linn Zwoch Smith GbR Pariser Str. 44 D-10707 Berlin Tel +49 30 83 22 50 00 Fax +49 30 83 22 50 07
