Hi ya!
So, the comment system has been lurking around on my hd since a longer
time. Now, since the comments mailinglist is in place (thx Derick!) and
I found some time to review it a bit I would like you all to test it,
before we bring it into production.
Because I got no access to the database on PEARWeb, your user-data may
not exist on my system. In this case you can use the following user data
for testing purposes:
User: tester
Pass: test
The comment system is available for the documentation and the package
homepages. To not bother PEAR dev's who do not attend the test the
system currently only sends messages to the mailinglist
(pear-comments@lists.php.net). If you do not like subscribing to that
list, it's also available through the web interface
(http://news.php.net). When being productive, those emails will be send
to the lead maintainers of the specific package/doc, too.
As discussed on the PEAR meeting this year, a comment can be
approved/rejected/edited by any PEARWeb user with pear.dev karma, so
mainly all of you. Be responsible with that power! Every administrative
action is logged to the mailinglist.
The comment system currently implements the following features:
- Posting comments by every visitor
- Accepting / rejecting / editing of comments by pear.dev's
- Repost block
The following features will follow in (hopefully) not that much of time:
- Overview on all not yet accepted comments
Please test the system as much as you can. Maybe my dev machine is a bit
slow from time to time because of it's ugly dial-up connection. Do not
wonder about.
This thread should mainly be for bug reports / general feedback. Please
try to keep your feature requests back until we are live, as long as
they are not really critical. Getting this up and running (stable) is
more important in my eyes, than having a multi-mega-feature system.
Testsystem is up here:

Waiting for your feedback. Flames > /dev/null.
With kind regards,
Toby
