I believe that get_class() / get_parent_class() are case-sensitive in PHP 5,
and case-insensitive in older versions. I don't believe that is_a() has that
issue.
The base PEAR (>= 1.3.0) requires is_a() to work properly anyways, so I don't
see this as being a big issue.
I'm stuck developing for 4.1.x as well, but auto_prepend_file and PHP_Compat
make life a lot easier.
