I understand you're making a joke here (because ever fifth email on
this list is some weak attempt at humor), but I want to make it clear
that such emails should not be considered "forced". When you sign up
to maintain a package in a public space, you're also agreeing to a
contract with the PEAR development community, and part of that
contract involves staying involved with PEAR administrivia.
Perhaps such details need to be spelled out verbatim when developers
apply for their freely-hosted, freely-administrated PEAR accounts.
