David, do you have a to-do list general set of requirements or anything? I don't mind helping but if I have any say in it...I'll start it in PHP5 considering the rework you sited.
I've got no choice but the get a db-based session handler written so I might as well do it here.

I had a bit more time back then and I also asked a colleague of mine to jump in. Unfortunately we both agree that a major rewrite is necessary. I cannot foresee a release date yet. I am not giving up on it, but unfortunately I cannot promise anything or give a firm date. If any other developer wants to jump in, I don't mind really. Sorry, I normally don't do that but I am currently teaching till the end of July for the summer sessions and I am supervising a number of graduate students in their final thesis and I can't really rewrite http_session that fast ;) Cheers David CostaWell, that doesn't make complete sense. Bugs? Sure, there are 3. Regardless, I think it is safe to say the absense of bugs does not indicate a stable package. And even if it were ready for primetime, I would think one of the five maintainers would move it to stable. What's PEAR's policies on orphaned packages? I'm not assuming this is orphaned, just curious. I'll wait for any more responses to trickle in before I try emailing the maintainers directly. The rule is that the package maintainer has about 2 months to respond before a package is declared orphaned. That should be somewhere in the archives.
