Hi,

Maybe im misunderstanding, but i can garentee that anyone who thinks converting things like DB, MDB, or HTML_QuickForm (not to mention something huge like phpDocumentor) to php5 is easy is just wrong.HTML_QuickForm will take a lot of time to rewrite, it's true. But I can tell with 90% certainty that next major version will be php5-only and will not be backwards compatible (in PEAR sense) due to major refactoring to take advantage of php5.
Let me repeat. in PHP5 you have to use RFC style error handling or your hosed, and you can't use any of your old php4 code is not a real soltuion. It will just make widespread use of PHP5 take longer, and give people more reasons to grumble about PEAR.Please tell me: *how* exactly does accepting of this RFC prevent you from using php4 code in php5? After quite a bit of flame from backwards-compatibility crusaders I can't yet get this. No one *forces* you to upgrade to php5-only package, y'know.
