Hi there,
perhaps a little OT: won't there be something like perl's 'AUTOLOAD()' in
php soon?
(thought I read it somewhere on zend.com)
Trying to create such a thing for one of my projects ended in frustration
because I couldn't find out, how to catch PHP-Fatal-Errors (e.g. call to
undefined function) with set_error_handler(), but may be I'm missing
something.
Perhaps it could be done by using a c extension or something, but for me it
seems better to wait (if it won't take longer as, say 6-9 month) for (is
it?) php5 and try to get along with what we have now, than to 'misuse' phps
error-reporting.
Even if we could use that magical extension: what if I use
set_error_handler() in a script where I use PEAR::DB too?
On the other hand: I would be _very_ cool to have the dynamically loadable
DB-Framework now -
last but not least as it could stop the endless PEAR::DB against metabase
thingie -> some people develop the core features like dynload-framework,
connect(), simple_query(), etc. and manuel and other dba developers could
seperate the different features in small packages and make them dynamic
loadable!
NB: Has someone of the real gurus an idea which impact the dynamically
loading framework could have on speed?
