Storing md5sums of files is one lightweight way to do this. This makes sense for HTTP. What about FTP? DNS? Should we check files in FTP and see if particular hosts have changed IPs? Or perhaps check a nameserver's zone record serial number? Obviously there is no 'file' for SMTP. Some people might like to issue a VRFY command to make sure an email address still has an account, but that is a bit obscure. I'll add this to the roadmap as a possible future enhancement of the package. Cheers, Robert
