Laurent Laville (http://pear.php.net/user/farell) has commented on the proposal for
PEAR::PEAR_ErrorLayer.
Comment:
Hi Daniel,
Do you undertood/read my explains about goals of ErrorLayer: i don't think
so.
This proposal is not another error package. I consider that error packages
are PEAR (base class) and PEAR_ErrorStack. PEAR_ErrorLayer as main goal to
be only a error handler wrapper, and swap easily from one to the other, in
few config. Generic driver included is only a example application: i
shouldn't have to put it in this package : it was an error; i know now.
I think that PEAR_ErrorLayer should be considered as an EAL (Error
Abstraction Layer). Something like DB and MDB are for RDBMS.
One last goal i've not explains, clear enough is :
- avoid to load an error package each time we load your own package.
PEAR and PEAR_ErrorStack are equivalent in this point: you've to
load/parse something like 30kb.
Even if i add comment to this alpha code i should obtains only 10kb to
load, AND ONLY when an error occurs NOT ALWAYS.
I hope now my explains are now more efficiency.
