Hi Bertrand,
You're welcome. It seemed like a useful thing to do with the collective work of so many other Net_* package contributors to put the packages to work all in one place testing network services.
I have completed work on "Smart Alerts." Here is the writeup from the draft:
Net_Monitor stores the previous results of its tests (state) in a user-defined file. Alerts are only sent if the state has changed. This means that if Net_Monitor is invoked on the same set of hosts/services on a regular basis, notifications will be sent only when the state of a host/service changes.
Optionally, Net_Monitor can be configured with notify_ok set to 0. This will disable Net_Monitor sending out alerts when a state changes from an error code to a code signifying everything is OK.
Net_Monitor can also be optionally configured with notify_change set to 0. This will disable Net_Monitor sending out alerts when a state signifying a potential problem changes to another state signifiying a potential problem (e.g. from 404, meaning Page Not Found, to 0, meaning down). Both settings work independently of each other.
Calling Net_Monitor::resetState() deletes the state file and clears variables associated with results for a particular instance of the class, allowing the end user to start a new monitoring session without having to restart PHP.
Also, I am moving this from "Drafts" to "Proposal" now.
Best,
Robert

If you are a voting member and see anything that would cause you *not* to vote for this package, please, please let me know. Other comments are welcome of course, but I am especially interested in comments from voting members at this point as I hope to move this up to proposal status soon. Then why don't you move the proposal from "draft" to "proposal" ? This would allow for comments directly in the comment system. Thanks for that package, it looks very useful (but smart alerts is a MUST-HAVE). Bertrand Mansion Mamasam
