Fine with me, although the proposed PHP file looks like it supports only
English.
Reading up on Dr. Porter's work, it appears he's done work with his stemmer in multiple languages[1]. I would only attempt to implement an english driver - the objective would be to create an API which allows other languages to be plugged in.
FYI, there is also a php extension (unfortunately, the author didn't propose it
to PECL yet) called stem-php http://bugs.tutorbuddy.com/
It is using Snowball http://www.snowball.tartarus.org/ AFAIK.
Yes, I've seen this briefly, I haven't started any real work yet, but the idea would be to look at the stem-php API and make use of any progress made there.
