The new PEAR package PEAR-1.4.0a5 (alpha) has been released at http://pear.php.net/. [snip]
Specific changes from 1.4.0a4: * upgrade suggested Archive_Tar version to 1.3.0This is not actually true - I downgraded it at the last minute, as Archive_Tar 1.3.0 introduces a BC break that will kill pear package --uncompress. You can pear up -f Archive_Tar if you need the bugfixes and PEAR will work just fine as long as you don't need to create an uncompressed package archive. Greg
