I also don't see any advantage of storing binary data
in a database. But I have seen lot's of people doing so
(in former times I've done it also several times ;-).
In the german language newsgroup de.comp.lang.php we often
try to convince people that such storing is bad but it
seemingly does not work :-).
So we should give those people who want to store
binary data in databases (no matter how much it costs)
the possibility to do this storing process with PEAR
in order to make PEAR popular and accepted.
