Clay, I think you have some very valid concerns, let me explain why I proposed my own HTML_AJAX. In general PEAR works by first come wins, there have been a couple cases where new packages have replaced old, Image_Graph, phpdoc -> phpDocumentor but in these cases the old version wasn't being activily developed and the new was. So when Luca gave a proposal and gave me the feeling that he wasn't going to change his design much I was left with no choice but doing my own. If Luca's html_ajax got voted in I'd be fully out of the process of maintaining it, hoping he would except patches that from early discussion don't seem to fit his goals. I'd have the advantage of not having to maintain a package in PEAR which gives me more time to write, but all PEAR would have is Sajax under a different name. So yes this is a competition PEAR doesn't leave any other out, I believe that Luca's approach can be replicated by my code (i'll even try that today or tomorrow) but I don't see any way for mine to fit in his. I guess its not true that PEAR doesn't leave any out's, I can name my package HTML_AJAX_OO or something and we can have 2 packages but that just mudies the water and like I said, I'm pretty sure I can get a setup where Luca's usage can be totally replicated in my code. -josh
