You can put an URL in the package homepage, this URL can contains
everything you want. But the _sources_ of the examples should
remain in the package.

This is an unrelated problem. We are are aware of it and will solve
it asap. APIs documentation are not examples.

I am only talking about about examples (sources code and related
datas), not docs, tutorials or other forms of userfriendly docs.
