Hi,
I just wanted to point you all to an effort by the phpedit
(ww.phpedit.org) folks.
They are currently building something similar to phpdoc but according to
their author he is trying to get some extra features into their thing.
He is currently preparing the next stable version and is requesting
comments on his help text generator. Since I assume a fair amount of
people will end up using phpedit (I just proposed that someone steps up
and does a linux port and I am willing to sponsor the kylix license for
that effort).
Anyways I think it would be good for you guys to maybe put in what you
would like to see so that the output conforms with what you guys want
for documentation and meta information.
Also I recently proposed to him to look into wsdl and how that could be
integrated in the documentation generation. This would be very cool and
would help php greatly in future development (I just did a presentation
on sopa, wsdl, uddi and I was blown away by the systinet wasp server and
how easy it was to create a soap based application and have the wsdl
document automatically generated).
The developers of phpedit seemed to like the idea (as can be read on the
phpedit QA mailinglist)
Even if none of you guys like what phpedit is doing and want to stick
with phpdoc adding wsdl generation would be very cool. This feature
could also have tie-ins with the soap class that someone mentioned is
being developed for pear atm (or the xml-rpc/soap extensions that are
build for php).
Just thought I should through this idea into this mailinglist. I am a
bit busy with work and doing the metabase stuff
so I can really jump
into this whole thing right now .. but I will once I have more time
available (yeah right ;-) ).
Best regards,
Lukas Smith
