So whats your suggestion for PEAR, the only difference I see at all is build server for compiling on multiple distros (which might apply to pecl but doesn't apply to pear)Sure it does. If the library is supposed to work on php4 and php5, then both should be tested for each new version posted. There should be some sort of automated testing that would automatically alert maintainers at the very least. Obviously we wouldn't need it on 5 different distros, but it'd be nice to have some sort of automated testing done. Clearly the developer should never have uploaded the broken version, since it didn't pass tests, but it happens, and humans are silly. Additionally, I'm suggesting that on the Package Information page it include additional information about the status of the package. Testing, number of bugs open, etc. Compare: http://search.cpan.org/~rjbs/Email-MIME-1.855/ With: http://pear.php.net/package/Mail_Mime Almost all the same information is available on PEAR as on CPAN, but on CPAN it is all available in a nice, headsup view. On PEAR I have to click through all the tabs. Additionally there is a very nice online diff tool, allowing me to see the differences between versions online. This might exist in CVS somewhere, but a link to this on the pear information page is very handy. Beckman ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
